::a bit of christmas spirit::
Thursday, 29 November 2012
I picked up a few Cyber Monday deals from some of my favorites to get me in the Christmas spirit. (the new issue of Kinfolk Magazine and Christmas cards from Rifle Paper Co.)
This is the first year that my Black Friday (well, we didn't make it shopping until Sunday) and Cyber Monday purchases weren't related to clothing or shoes. I guess your priorities really shift when you're in a new house. We found a mattress for a guest bedroom. It's not fun spending money on a bed, especially one you won't be sleeping in. But it gets much better knowing that our house is becoming our home and we can have guest stay in comfort!
What did you buy?

By this time tomorrow night, I'll be hanging out with my little sister! It's been 6 months since I've been home and it's really all I've been thinking about since Monday. My favorite thing in the world is spending time with my family. There will be antique hunting (mostly for wedding decor) and early Thanksgiving dinner and a few wedding meetings thrown in there. June 1st will be here before I know it, and I should probably start making some big decisions. Like, maybe a dress?

There's lots of new vintage making it's way into the 6 petals shop.
If you want to be the first to know when new items hit the shop, follow 6 petals on Twitter and Facebook.

This is the look I'm going for in my new office/studio space. It helps that I have a lot of the same pieces too: tall metal locker, antlers, wooden shelves and compartments, rustic spools, old suitcases and beautiful typographic elements. I'm really excited to add a cool light fixture. I've been collecting a few pieces for just that.

We're starting to get things settled in our new home. And, it still doesn't feel real sometimes. It's like I'm on a long vacation in someone's house. There are times when I still think my belongings are in our old place. Perhaps a housewarming party will help!
One thing I know for sure is that I really enjoy sharing a space with Jay. I'll try to avoid the lovey-dovey talk (I guess I'm on that path because I just designed our Save the Dates!), but it's true. All the little things that I notice about him makes me happy to know that he's mine. Coupledom is a wonderful thing.

With a wedding in just under 7 months, I suppose it's time to start planning. I've been turning to my typography board for a bit of inspiration for Save the Dates, a return address stamp, and all those other little details that make paper so pretty. It's hard to beat a beautiful cursive handwriting mixed with old school serifs. I'll need to practice getting the letters just right.
